Here's a remedy that's been around for a while that my patients have told me about: Mix 1-2 Tablespoons of cider vinegar and 2 teaspoons raw honey in a glass of water and drink. This can be used on a daily basis as a preventative or when a headache strikes.
Raw Almonds...
Try eating 8-20 raw almonds, (again on a daily basis as a preventative or when a headache strikes).
How does it work?
They contain the natural ingredient that is in aspirin - salycin. This may also be helpful to do if you are experiencing a headache that might be related to low blood sugar.
Compress...
Put a cold compress or frozen gel pack, (like the one offered in the kit), on the back of the neck or forehead. Also, try a warm compress or heated gel pack when experiencing headaches related to tension.
Sinus Massage...
Press your thumbs or pointer fingers into the spot right below the tip of the eyebrow above the eye socket and nose. You will feel some discomfort when you are in the right place. Breathe deeply and hold for about a minute. This is especially beneficial for headaches associated with sinus problems.
How does it work?
Can relieve tension and pressure.
Jean Olsen's Headache Kit
The headache kit contains: A dvd and manual on how
to perform the following muscle relaxation tips
and more...
Tip #1
The corrugator is the muscle that controls the eyebrow
and runs somewhat underneath most people's eyebrows.
Take this muscle and sort of pinch along it with
your thumb and pointer, pulling and rolling the
muscle all the way down. Remember to breathe deeply.
Tip #2
The temporalis muscle is found by a slight indentation
in the skull, above the ears, and next to the outside
of the eyes. Use your index and pointer fingers
to go around in circles in this area, loosening
up muscle tension.
Drink water
Increase the amount of water you drink
More natural tips are included in the headache manual and will be addressed in upcoming newsletters.
